FAQ regarding mailing lists

A collection of answers to the most frequently asked questions about mailing lists is gradually being compiled here.

I'm only in my first or second semester. Is the list also useful for me?

Yes, at the beginning of your studies, the lists are especially useful. Many things have changed recently in both computer science and mathematics studies. So register as soon as possible.

I am studying mathematics/computer science and would also like to join the other list. Am I allowed to do that?

Of course you may. Just sign up. But don't complain if you receive some mails twice.

Why do I get a confirmation mail after registering?

The purpose of this e-mail is to check whether you have really registered yourself or whether some prankster has been having fun with you. Follow the instructions in the e-mail and you should be added to the list.

I didn't sign up for one of the lists, but I received an e-mail from them anyway. How so?

Someone apparently wanted to register you without your knowledge. Just ignore the mail.

I have created a survey as part of my thesis, can you pass it on to your students?

No, that is not possible. We receive such requests almost every day and neither we nor our fellow students have the time or inclination to answer them all.

I am a representative of an IT company and have some great job offers etc. for computer science/mathematics students. Can you forward them to the lists?
